The flashcard generator, in one screen

Your text on the left, the settings on top, the deck on the way out. Nothing else to learn.

Preview of the generator: a Standard tab selected, a “Deck name” field, a text area holding an excerpt from a thermodynamics course, then the “Generate flashcards” button, a progress bar and the card count per type (9 questions and answers, 7 cloze deletions, 4 multiple-choice questions). On the right, three generated cards: a question and answer, a cloze deletion and a multiple-choice question.

Everything for your Anki flashcards, nothing more

Buvard does one thing: it turns your material into cards that are accurate, cleanly worded and usable in Anki right away.

What is the value of the Gaussian integral?

∫0+∞e−x2 dx=π2\int_{0}^{+\infty} e^{-x^{2}}\,dx = \frac{\sqrt{\pi}}{2}
Mathematics

Mathematics and LaTeX formulas

Formulas in your PDFs are recognised, converted to LaTeX and rendered as-is inside Anki — on desktop and on mobile. A calculus lecture does not come out as gibberish.

  • Spotted by the maths font in your document, not guessed at
  • Rendered by Anki with no add-on and no LaTeX install

Languages

Language-learning mode

Pick the language of the front and of the back, swap them in one move, and work on single words or on full sentences, whichever suits you.

  • Automatic language detection
  • Single words or full sentences, your choice

Three card formats

Question and answer, cloze deletions in Anki’s own c1 syntax, and four-option multiple choice. Mix them in one deck or stick to a single format.

Adjustable density

Low, normal or high: the number of cards scales with the length of your document. Exhaustive mode leaves nothing out — a full glossary becomes a full deck.

Full history

Every generation is logged: date, mode, card count, duration and outcome. You can find a deck again months later without hunting for it.

Native .apkg export

The file downloads and opens straight into Anki, on desktop and on mobile alike. No add-on to install, no conversion step.

Frequently asked questions

What people ask us before they build a first deck.

What can I feed Buvard?

A PDF, a Word document, a text file, or text pasted straight in: a lecture chapter, notes taken in class, an article, a video transcript. You can also start from a plain topic (“the French Revolution, 1789-1799”). Once you are signed in, a photo of a whiteboard or of a handwritten page is read too.

What exactly is an .apkg file?

It is Anki’s native deck format. Once downloaded, it opens with a double click on desktop, or from the import menu in AnkiMobile and AnkiDroid. Your cards join your usual collection and follow your own spaced repetition schedule: Buvard does not replace Anki, it fills it.

What happens to the documents I upload?

Your text is sent to the model for the sole purpose of writing the cards, then it is forgotten: we keep only a 500-character excerpt, shown in your history so you can recognise a deck. Nothing is used to train a model, nothing is shared, and deleting a deck deletes its cards as well.

Which languages does Buvard work in?

By default the cards are written in the language detected in your document. You can also force an output language, or switch to language-learning mode to choose the front and the back language separately — with one-click swapping and a choice between words and full sentences.

Why not just type my cards myself?

Because typing them is what puts most people off before their first review. A chapter takes a solid hour to break down by hand, against roughly thirty seconds here. You stay in control of the result: every card can be read and edited before you export.

How does the pass work?

A pass is bought once, for a fixed length: one, three, six or twelve months. There is no automatic charge, no renewal and nothing to cancel — when the period ends, your account simply returns to the free plan. Decks you already generated stay available and exportable as .apkg.
